Start with future questions
The right records depend on the asset and the work. Useful connections may include as-builts, inspection reports, photographs, repair records, manufacturer information, contractor deliverables, field notes, and verification history.
The test is whether the material helps a future authorized worker locate, understand, inspect, maintain, or make a decision about the asset.
Connection matters more than accumulation
More files do not automatically create more continuity. Documents become useful when their relationship to the asset, date, condition, and work is clear.
A concise, connected record is often more valuable in the field than a large unstructured folder.
